WHAT:
Fraternal Twins, Laura and Francisco Trevino, are celebrating their birthday (which is today) in a very unique way.
Laura gave the ultimate gift of life by donating her kidney to her brother who was in need of kidney transplant. The procedure was successfully done at DHR Health and both are recuperating at the hospital. They will both talk about the importance of organ donation especially since August is “National Minority Donor Awareness” Month. The DHR Health Kidney Transplant Institute is the only comprehensive kidney transplant center serving patients of the Rio Grande Valley. The DHR Health Kidney Transplant Institute is proud to be providing world-class care, and minimizing travel for patients.

This organ donation and kidney transplant serves as a platform for DHR Health’s Kidney Transplant Institute to talk about “National Minority Donor Awareness” Month. It is a dedicated initiative focused on educating multicultural communities about the critical need for organ donation. As the Rio Grande Valley is a predominately Hispanic community, this month takes on a heighten sense of significance for us as we must help inform and dispel myths around organ donation.
The Trevino siblings will be available for interviews about the importance of organ donation as well as DHR Health physicians.
