DHR Health Honored with Texas’ “Large Employer of the Year” State Award from Texas Workforce Commission

Edinburg, Texas: DHR Health has been awarded Texas’ “Large Employer of the Year” honor by the Texas Workforce Commission and Workforce Solutions. The nomination for this statewide award was made possible by Workforce Solutions Lower Rio Grande Valley.

“We want to congratulate DHR Health for continuing to be innovators in our state with job creation and workforce development. It is partnerships such as this one that not only benefit the RGV but the state of Texas,” said Francisco “Frank” Almaraz, Workforce Solutions Lower Rio Grande Valley, Chief Executive Officer. 

DHR Health was selected as the finalist and competed against two other private-sector employers from state which included Georgia-Pacific, nominated by Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas, and Knauf, nominated by Workforce Solutions for the Heart of Texas.

“This honor underscores DHR Health’s efforts in expanding career opportunities, strengthening skills, while contributing to the overall economic impact of the Rio Grande Valley,” said Dr. Carlos J. Cardenas, DHR Health Chairman of the Board.

In just over the past year, DHR Health has created many new positions, significantly contributing to job growth in healthcare and allied health fields throughout the region. These jobs also resulted in indirect jobs, spanning industries such as construction, maintenance, medical supply chains, retail, food service and more.

Additionally, through the Skills Development Fund, DHR Health successfully upskilled many staff members. This initiative resulted in a high completion rate of training deliverables and has positively influenced employee satisfaction, retention, and promotion opportunities, reducing reliance on external recruitment for critical roles.
