WHAT:

In recognition of World Lung Day (September 25), DHR Health will announce its designation as a Lung Cancer Screening and Care Center of Excellence (COE) by GO2 for Lung Cancer. This national recognition makes DHR Health the only health system south of San Antonio to earn this status. These COE designations highlight DHR Health’s advanced lung cancer screening and treatment program, including low-dose CT scans, robotic-assisted technology, patient navigation, and artificial intelligence tools that help catch lung cancer at earlier, more treatable stages.

ADDITIONAL / IMPORTANCE:
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States, claiming more lives each year than breast, prostate, and colon cancers combined. Because it is often diagnosed late, early detection is critical to improving survival. DHR Health’s program provides comprehensive care from screening through treatment—starting with a low-dose CT scan, supported by the Eon AI system to catch incidental findings, followed by the Ion Robotic-Assisted Bronchoscopy System for precise biopsy, and, if needed, minimally invasive tumor removal with the da Vinci 5 surgical system. This streamlined approach ensures patients are not overlooked, are diagnosed earlier, and move through their care journey faster with coordinated guidance every step of the way.
