Hello. My name is Sarah Sagredo-Hammond, and for the last nine years, I've been fighting at the Capitol, not as a politician, but as a small business owner, a mom, a daughter, a proud South Texan.
I've sat in the committee rooms where people make decisions about the Rio Grande Valley without ever having walked our streets. Too often, Austin talks to us like we're a headline and not a home.
My family business has served this region for over 40 years. We've been there through the scorching summers and the freezing storms keeping the AC running and paychecks flowing to local families.
And there have been moments I thought I would lose it, not because we didn't fight hard enough, because those who were supposed to serve us stopped listening. Paperwork piled higher than profits, insurance climbed, property taxes skyrocketed, and when we ask for help, we get speeches instead of solutions.
That's when I realized, if we want real change, we have to send real people. I believe in faith, family, freedom, courage, commitment, community, values that lift people up instead of pull them apart.
Which is why today I'm stepping forward announcing my run for Texas House District 41. Because if Austin won't bring the Valley to the table, I'll bring the Valley to Austin.
Editor's Note: The above comemntary was provided by Sarah Sagredo-Hammond, a Rio Grande Valley business leader and candidate for Texas House District 41.
Sarah Sagredo-Hammond has won the endorsement of Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC. Here is a statement by TLR President Lee Parsley:
“TLRPAC is proud to stand behind Sarah Sagredo-Hammond—mom, community leader and owner of a family business that has served South Texas for more than 40 years. Sarah has seen firsthand the dire impact of lawsuit abuse on a community, from skyrocketing insurance premiums that force small businesses to shutter to the hidden ‘lawsuit tax’ that is baked into goods and services and burdens hardworking Texas families. In the Texas House, Sarah will continue fighting for the needs of the Rio Grande Valley.”
