PHARR, Texas - UT-Rio Grande Valley’s Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Center has won another national award.

Last year, the University Economic Development Association, a group that works with universities that play an active role in economic development, gave a National Award of Excellence to UTRGV ECC for the eBridge Center in Brownsville. This year, the same group gave the ECC a national award for RGV StartUp Week.

Linda Ufland, director of the ECC, was at the University Economic Development Association conference in Huntsville, Alabama, to receive the award.

“We were able to present our project under the Innovation category, which was a little bit difficult because it (RGV StartUp Week) is sort of an event. But we were able to talk about this movement, not an event, that really translates innovation to being human and not just technology,” Ufland said. “So, we're very excited.”

The RGG Business Journal secured the interview with Ufland at the Pharr Global Business Hub. Ufland was there to give prizes to the latest cohort of entrepreneurs who have completed the ECC’s Kauffman FastTrac program.
