DHR Health “reeled in” an outstanding $501,316 at their 19th Annual Fishing for Hope Tournament held on August 23 at South Padre Island. The proceeds will go to help the Hope Family Health Center in providing medical services to uninsured families of the Rio Grande Valley.

Expanding forensic exam services to Cameron and Willacy Counties: DHR Health officially opened a new Safe H.A.V.E.N. (Helping All Violent Encounters Now) Forensic Exam Center inside DHR Health Brownsville Hospital, located at 4750 N. Expressway. This specialized program is designed to deliver compassionate, comprehensive care to both children and adults who have experienced abuse or assault. The center will primarily serve residents of Cameron and Willacy counties, working closely with local district attorney offices, law enforcement agencies and advocacy groups. This marks DHR Health’s second forensic exam center with the first one opening in 2017 at the main hospital located in Edinburg where it continues to service Hidalgo and Starr counties.

DHR Health’s Level I Trauma Center has been re-verified, ensuring patients across the Rio Grande Valley continue to receive the highest level of trauma care close to home.
