Salinas: Hunger is growing in the Rio Grande Valley

Posted

Thousands of families across the Rio Grande Valley struggle to put food on their tables each month. Although many rely on programs like SNAP and WIC, recent policy changes are contributing to an increase in hunger.

I invite you to attend “Hunger in the RGV - A Call to Action.” The event is being held Sept. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m, at South Texas College Mid Valley Campus, Auditorium G192, Building G, in Weslaco.

Please join elected officials, and business, education, non-profit, healthcare, and faith leaders to examine hunger in the Valley. Learn how it impacts our community and the actions we can take now to address it.

The event is being hosted by the office of Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez, South Texas College, and Bread for the World. For more information contact me at breadrgv@gmail.com.
